Caprese is a classic that never gets old! Whether you eat it as a salad, pizza, or sandwich, the combination of tomato, mozzarella, and basil is always a winner. This Caprese sandwich with homemade pesto and a fried egg is the perfect nutritious breakfast or lunch. Super flavorful, easy to make, and ready in just 10 minutes!
What You Need for This Sandwich:
1 slice of bread
Splash of olive oil
Pinch of Celtic salt and pepper
Paprika powder
Italian herbs
2 teaspoons homemade pesto
2 cherry tomatoes
3 slices of mozzarella
1 egg
Slice of young matured raw milk cheese
Basil leaf
How to Make This Perfect Caprese Sandwich:
Prepare the Bread: Drizzle the bread with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toast it in a toaster, oven, or air fryer (200°C, 3 min) until golden brown.
Spread the Pesto: Spread the homemade pesto over the toasted bread.
Add Mozzarella and Tomatoes: Place the slices of mozzarella and tomatoes on top and sprinkle with Italian herbs.
Melt the Cheese: Place the sandwich back in the air fryer or oven (200°C, 3 min) until the mozzarella melts.
Fry the Egg: Fry the egg in a pan with high-quality butter. Add paprika powder and cheese. Flip the egg so the cheese becomes crispy.
Finish It Off: Remove the sandwich from the air fryer and place the egg on top. Garnish with a basil leaf.
