To calm my stomach, I absolutely love making spice lattes. One of my favorites is the Golden Latte. It has a soothing, calming effect on Vata and tastes absolutely delicious. If I could, I’d drink ten of these every day! The key ingredient in this latte is turmeric, an anti-inflammatory herb that also supports digestion. It’s especially great for Vata types.
Ingredients for 1 Golden Latte:
1 cup of organic full-fat milk (For Kapha, use almond or oat milk, but make sure there’s no seed oil in the ingredients)
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cinnamon (For Pitta, don’t add too much)
¼ tsp cardamom
A pinch of black pepper
A pinch of ginger (For Pitta, it’s better to add an extra pinch of cardamom or saffron instead)
½ tsp coconut oil (For Kapha, skip the oil)
1 tsp organic maple syrup or coconut blossom sugar (For Kapha, minimize or omit the sweetener)
Optional spices: ¼ tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp cloves
Instructions:
Warm the Milk: Pour the milk into a small saucepan and gently heat on low heat, making sure the milk doesn’t come to a boil.
Add the Spices: Stir in the turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and black pepper.
Mix Well: Stir the spices thoroughly so they blend with the milk.
Make it Creamy: Add the coconut oil for extra creaminess and stir until it’s melted.
Strain (Optional): Pour the Golden Latte into your mug, and for a smoother texture, I always strain it using a fine sieve.
Sweeten: Add maple syrup (or coconut blossom sugar) to the latte for a lovely sweet taste.
Froth for Extra Creaminess: If you like, froth the milk with a milk frother or gently whisk it for a soft foam.
Garnish: For a beautiful finish, sprinkle a little extra turmeric or cinnamon on top of your latte.
Enjoy your soothing, warming Golden Latte—a perfect drink to nurture your body and mind! ✨☕
